What is Location Based Backup Service?
Location Based Backup is similar to Cloud Based only in that with location based backup you can select the Country where we have available data centers. Location Based data centers always have a main data center and are replicated to an alternate data center inside that same Country. It is important to select the data center at the time the account is created because once it is created it CANNOT be move to another data center. If you require the data to be placed in a different location a new account must be created and the data re-uploaded. (Online Backup FAQ #2)
How does Online Backup Differ From Cloud Storage?
Cloud Storage differs from Online Backup in a large way. Cloud Storage creates an online drive which you can copy files into the online drive is very similar to a mapped network drive, in fact. The online drive can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection and utilizes worldwide data centers to provide a cost effective data storage solution.
The virtual drive appears as a new folder called tapDRIVE in the My Computer window. You can copy to and from this new drive, as well as open files directly from it – By installing the software on additional computers you can access the same tapDRIVE folder from other computers as well.

This process is the same as the online backup process. After ordering the service and the online backup software is installed, the online drive will automatically add a new drive to the computer upon activation. This new drive is accessed just like connecting a USB flash drive – it’s very easy and literally takes minutes.
Online Backup will copy files and folders from a computer and monitor those files for changes. When there is a change it will backup a copy of it and retain up to 30 revisions. Cloud Storage is like having a mapped network drive where you can copy files to however, it does not act as a backup, but rather as a repository, a place designated for storage and preservation. Unlike an external hard drive it is guarded by many levels of fault tolerance and stored in world wide data centers. Both services are accessed through the same software client and by installing the software on multiple computers one can simulate a network drive.
By using the same login account on multiple computers the same virtual drive and its contents are shared to all computers. If using backup and storage services with the same account, data is NOT stored in the same container. So if you have a file backed up and copied to the virtual drive they are not in the same space, they would in fact be in 2 separate places. How do I download and install the Backup software?
To download the TAPNET Desktop software simply login to your TAPNET acount, click on Services and then click on the product to open product detail page. On product detail page, click on Downloads on left menu links. This page offers a step-by-step guide to downloading and installing the latest version of the software – it’s very easy and literally takes minutes.

Where can I see the files I’ve backed up?
The files that you’ve backed up are all available from your secure web portal. Login with your TAPNET account e-mail address and password, and click on the Backup tab – you’ll be able to browse your files just like you can in Windows.

How can I restore multiple files?
Whether you want to restore you files on a new computer or are recovering from an unfortunate incident, TAPNET Restore lets your browse your TAPNET Backup account, select any file or folder and then restore it straight to your PC, either in its original location or a new location of your choice. To download and install the TAPNET Restore, login and click download. The installer will take you through everything you need to set up TAPNET Restore – it only takes a few minutes!.
Can I get access to previous versions of files?
Yes – TAPNET Backup allows you to configure any type of retention period you require. Open TAPNET Cloud Backup, click on the Backup Plan and then Edit Backup Plan to go through the setup wizard.
Can I restore deleted items?
Yes – TAPNET Cloud Backup software allows you to configure the retention period on deleted files. To restore a file, click on Welcome tab >> Restore Backup. Go through the wizard and select the appropriate options you require to obtain the restore you need. If the files haven’t been removed based on the original retention periods set for those files they will be visible in the file folder hierarchy.
Can I use TAPNET Backup on multiple computers?
The TAPNET Backup package is for a single-PC use only. However, you can buy multiple TAPNET Backup subscriptions to backup multiple machines.
How fast will my backup run?
www.SpeedTest.net is a popular website that determines how fast your internet connection’s upload speed is. This speed will be your upload speed limit should you use TAPNET’s online backup facilities.”
